The basics of psilocybin microdosing

Microdosing: The Basics

Is microdosing addictive?

You have to make a conscious decision to take a microdose every time; it does not create a craving. Magic mushrooms and magic truffles are 100 per cent non-addictive and can even help you overcome existing addictions. No, you cannot become dependent on microdosing.

How much is a microdose?

For magic truffles, a microdose is 1g of fresh or 0.3g of dried magic truffles.

With magic mushrooms, it depends on the type of magic mushroom.

For ‘standard magic mushrooms’, known as ‘strains’ – such as Golden Teacher, McKennai, Mexicana and so on – a dose is approximately 0.1g of dried mushrooms.

In what situations should I avoid microdosing?

As long as the effects remain entirely unconscious, microdosing does not impair either your judgement or your reaction time.

If you are allergic to mushrooms or truffles, it may be necessary to extract the sclerotia (‘magic truffles’) and use the extract for microdosing.

This is a tricky situation and requires an individual solution. If you feel nauseous after consuming fresh sclerotia, dry them and swallow them in their dried form!

What are the effects of combining it with other substances?

Microdosing and alcohol:

Moderate alcohol consumption does not usually interfere with microdosing. Ideally, you should leave a gap of a few hours between the two – for example, if you microdose in the morning, you can have a beer in the evening.

It is advisable to avoid large amounts of alcohol whilst microdosing, or to skip a day of microdosing if you plan to drink a lot of alcohol.

Microdosing and antidepressants:

In recent years, many people have started microdosing as a supplement to, or even as a replacement for, their antidepressants. (Please note that this does not constitute medical advice.)

Long-term use of antidepressants leads to a significantly higher tolerance, meaning you may no longer feel any effect from a standard microdose.

It is always better not to combine the two. If you still wish to try it, be sure to increase the dose very slowly and gradually over several days.

Give your body time to adjust.

Microdosing and cannabis:

In most cases, cannabis and microdosing do not significantly affect each other.

If you increase your awareness and sensitivity even slightly, you will naturally perceive the effects of cannabis more strongly.
