Grow with a sterile box

For all destinations outside the EU, we offer the Serine Growbox and the culture syringe for growing mushrooms.

The items are dispatched separately; the syringe is not labelled.

The grow box is sterile and sealed; it contains only organic substrate. It features a self-sealing injection port and comes with alcohol swabs to clean the port before inserting the needle. It also comes with a grow bag to place the box in once it is fully colonised.

Use all 20 ml of the liquid culture for a 1200ccm box to achieve optimal results!

The substrate will take around 3 weeks to become fully colonised. For best results, keep it at a temperature of around 23°C. It can be kept in a dark place, but as the mycelium needs to breathe, the box with the HEPA filter lid on should not be placed in a cupboard, drawer or any other place without fresh air.

Once the substrate has been colonised, open the lid, place the box inside the grow bag, spray it once with clean drinking water and leave it in a spot with indirect daylight. Never place it on a heater or heating mat, and never allow direct sunlight to shine on it!

After a further 2 weeks, the mushrooms should start to grow and be ready for harvest within another week.

Harvest the mushrooms when the caps begin to open; do not let them open completely and release the spores. They will show dark spots once the spores have fallen out. This does not affect their potency, and they can be dried and consumed just like ‘normal mushrooms’, but the number of harvests and the total yield will decrease.

After harvesting, water the box with clean drinking water for 1–2 hours (with the lid on), change the water inside the bag, place the box back into the bag, and after 7–10 days the next batch of mushrooms will grow.

You can expect 2–3 harvests; up to 9 harvests are possible.

You can follow the “classic grow kit instructions” from the point at which your substrate is fully colonised: INSTRUCTIONS
