Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) is a brownish-red mushroom measuring about 10 to 25 centimeters. In the Netherlands, this mushroom is known as the Lacquer Mushroom. It mainly grows on the stumps of old trees like oak and beech.

In China, Reishi has been used for over 2000 years. Its reputation is very impressive, which is why it is called Lingzhi there, meaning "Mushroom of Immortality." In traditional Chinese medicine, Lingzhi is used for various purposes.
