Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) is a brownish-red mushroom measuring approximately 10 to 25 centimetres. In the Netherlands, this mushroom is known as the lacquer mushroom. It grows mainly on the stumps of old trees such as oaks and beeches.

In China, Reishi has been used for over 2,000 years. It has a very impressive reputation, which is why it is called Lingzhi there, meaning ‘mushroom of immortality’. In traditional Chinese medicine, Lingzhi is used for various purposes.
