 Replanting San Pedro cacti is incredibly easy!

The San Pedro cactus is native to Chile, Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru (mainly the Andean region). This cactus is known for its rapid growth.

Planting: you can cut off a section and plant the fresh cut end in cactus compost. The cactus will develop roots and start to grow.

Water sparingly.

You could even cut your cactus into 2 or 3 pieces and plant them individually.

Note that you must allow the cut end to dry out for at least one week before planting it in moist soil.

The San Pedro Peruvian Torch is a lesser-known species of cactus. That said, this species can grow into one of the largest and strongest mescaline cacti within the San Pedro family.
The Peruvian Torch has thick, strong green to blue-green spines, so handle it with care!

How to use San Pedro for spiritual or religious purposes

(Only do this in countries where the personal use of San Pedro is permitted by law)

There are various ways to consume San Pedro. The easiest is probably to peel it, cut off the dark green part of the flesh and leave it to dry.

The core of the cactus is said to contain almost no mescaline.

One San Pedro cutting is sufficient for about 1 very intense trip, or 2 moderate ones.

The effects of mescaline can last up to 18 hours. Plan accordingly and also read the ‘safer use’ section.

Entheogenic

The active ingredient in San Pedro is mescaline.

The first effects will be felt about 1–2 hours after ingestion. After that, you can expect these effects to last between 8 and 15 hours.

A common effect is a dramatic heightening of the senses, so you will hear, feel and perceive much more. Extreme sensitivity to light may also occur, allowing you to see and feel rays of light.

It is also possible to perceive auras and see people or objects glowing.

Emotions and feelings can also be greatly amplified and easily find an outlet. Think of pleasure, laughter, screaming, fear and a great deal of love for everything living and non-living.

If you compare the effects of San Pedro to those of peyote (another very popular mescaline-containing cactus), they are generally perceived as more pleasant. San Pedro has a less unpleasant and bitter taste before ingestion, so nausea is less likely to occur.

The psychedelic experience is also not as overwhelming as with peyote. Whilst peyote can sometimes be very intense, San Pedro is actually calmer and less physically intense.

Set and Setting

Careful preparation before taking San Pedro is essential.

Both external circumstances and your state of mind play an important role and must be taken into account beforehand, as the effects may last for 8–18 hours and render you unable to assess risks normally.

- Only use mescaline-containing cacti in a safe and trusted environment
. - When using the cactus, always ensure you have a trip sitter present!
- The active substances in the cacti work best on an empty stomach.
- Nausea may occur when using the cacti.
- The cacti can also be consumed as a tea
.- Only use the cactus if you are in good mental and physical health; prepare carefully, paying particular attention to set and setting!

You can store your San Pedro cutting at room temperature for a week at most.

The sooner you plant it, the better.

If you’re going to store it in the fridge, make sure it doesn’t freeze, as that would kill it!

San Pedro is a popular cactus for gardens and is entirely legal as a plant.

However, depending on where you are, there may be laws against consuming it.

Mescaline itself is a controlled substance. We therefore strongly advise against any attempt to extract it from the cactus.
