Lion’s mane is also known as ‘nature’s brain food’. Studies suggest that it stimulates the brain to produce more NGF (nerve growth factors). These are responsible for the production, growth and maintenance of neurons in the brain. NGF is particularly responsible for the formation of myelin sheaths, a layer surrounding brain cells that protects them and improves the transmission of signals between cells. Unfortunately, these sheaths can become damaged with age, which significantly slows down the speed of signal transmission and can lead to a deterioration in brain function (as seen in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s). In other words, Lion’s Mane can help to keep the brain healthy and vibrant.
Niacin is included in this synergy as it has the potential to distribute psilocybin and Lion’s Mane more effectively throughout the brain, thereby enhancing the brain-boosting effects of both substances. Niacin (nicotinic acid), also known as vitamin B3 or vitamin PP, is a vitamin that the body produces from the amino acid tryptophan. It is obtained through the diet from a wide variety of wholefoods and processed foods. Although the names are similar, nicotinic acid has nothing to do with the nicotine found in tobacco. To avoid confusion, nicotinic acid is usually referred to as niacin. Niacin plays a crucial role in energy and protein metabolism. Without this vitamin, the body cannot properly metabolise fats, carbohydrates and amino acids. Niacin has an antioxidant effect and is involved in many enzymatic processes. It is essential for the regeneration of skin, muscles, nerves and DNA.
Lion’s Mane, niacin and psilocybin work together synergistically. Studies have shown that the combination of these substances can reduce anxiety and irritability, improve cognitive function and creativity, promote social interaction and enhance well-being. This enhanced well-being can also strengthen the immune system.
Rosemary can have a positive effect on circulation, blood flow and metabolism. It is also used to aid digestion.
